NBA Rumors: Lakers To Pursue 3-Point Shooting Free Agents
The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly reaching out to three-point shooting free agents.
A massive amount of speculations are currently swirling around the NBA as one of the most sought-after teams LA Lakers are reportedly in the process of equipping their roster with a third max level free agent.
While things are getting more and more intense with the Kawhi Leonard talks, some in Lakers are apparently pursuing some supporting cast these past few days.
According to Lakers Nation, the team is in need of some players who can drain clutch three-pointers and sources claim that Lakers are already reaching out to Seth Curry’s representatives.
Seth has been a terrific shooter with an average of 45.6% field goal effieciency and 45% from beyond the arc. It is safe to say that the Lakers may be looking for players who can catch and shoot whenever LeBron or AD will be pressed defensively.
LA apparently, is pushing hard for Kawhi but there is also a chance that the team may consider signing multiple role players using the max-contract slot instead, should things don’t go as planned for the reigning NBA Finals MVP.
Some sources claim that Lakers also have a strong interest in Patrick Beverley. The team is reportedly started the process of setting up a meeting with the LA Clippers point guard, according to SB Nation.
The idea of having Beverley inside the court suggests that the Lakers may be looking for a versatile guard who is a bit similar to the versatility of Lonzo Ball. While Beverley is quite a different type of guard than Ball, he has significantly improved his three-point shooting and has belonged to one of the toughest defenders in the league today.
Last season, Beverly averaged 39.7 percent from three point line. This season, he averaged 40% and tied his career-high 3-point percentage on 5.5 3-point attempts per game.
From the looks of how things are going, it appears that LA is already designing a contingency plan as early as now. All NBA fans know that acquiring a superstar like Kawhi is not going to be easy for LA. LeBron is reportedly set to meet with Kawhi soon and that could mean that the Lakers will go for the persuading powers of the King once again.
Aside from the Lakers, Kawhi is about to meet with the Clippers and the Knicks, the team in which the reigning Finals MVP is rumored to join alongside Kevin Durant.
