Anthony Davis is the hot topic in the NBA these days, with the 25-year-old center making it known that he wants out of New Orleans. That bombshell, unfortunately, cost him a hefty $50,000 fine for violating the collective-bargained rule that prohibits players or their representatives from making public trade demands.

Regardless, the point here is that Davis wants out. While the Pelicans remain firm on their stand to keep him in New Orleans, they are also expected to look at their options of the “Brow’s” impending exit, NBA.com reported. A plausible destination is the Los Angeles Lakers.

Anthony Davis is handled by the same agent as LeBron James, Rich Paul. Although it has not been made public, there is a growing belief that Paul will eventually reveal that the top pick of the 2012 NBA Draft will want to join the Lakers.

One person who believes that this will happen is former Los Angeles Laker Lamar Odom. Currently in the Philippines to play for Mighty Sports for an upcoming Dubai tournament, the 39-year-old was thrown a flurry of questions Tuesday, Jan. 29 on the topic.

Odom believes that Davis would be a great addition to the Los Angeles Lakers, and it would be a big boost to James whom he believes is the right guy to lead the franchise back on the right track. He believes that the Lakers will go all out for Davis and this may include giving up assets – mostly the young guys.

Odom did not get into details on who he believed would be dealt, but he hinted that no one is indispensable. This means guys like Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram or even Kyle Kuzma could end up being the sacrificial lambs if the Lakers are hell-bent on acquiring the five-time NBA All-Star.

Davis has no intention of signing a $240 million supermax contract over the summer. Aside from the Lakers, the Boston Celtics are another team that oddsmakers believe will land the 2017 NBA All-Star MVP. According to Yahoo Sports, the reason behind this move is that Davis prefers legacy over money.

"I want to have a legacy. All my people that look up to me, the younger kids, I want them to know about AD's legacy. Championships, the things I do in the community, being a good teammate, playing hard. All that stuff matters the most to me. Don't get me wrong, money is amazing. But I think in that sense, money or legacy, I think my legacy will win that battle every time," he said.

With the Feb. 7 trade deadline approaching, it will be interesting if the Pelicans get rid of Davis now or wait until the summer. It all boils down to what the Lakers, Celtics or any other team would dangle – an offer that will hopefully sit well with the Pelicans.
