  • Danny Green doubts that Ben Simmons will suit up for the Nets in the game against the 76ers
  • Sixers fans are expected to lash out on Simmons if he decides to play on March 10
  • Simmons remains out of action as he reportedly nurses a sore back

Ben Simmons is nowhere close to finally playing this season with the 6-foot-11 cager reportedly nursing a sore back.

While that may be bad news for his new team, the Brooklyn Nets, it could be a blessing in disguise.

One team that the Nets will face next week is Simmons’ former team, the Philadelphia 76ers.

It is no secret that many Sixers fans were not too happy about how the Australian cager held out and opted to sit out most of the current season.

So in a way, Simmons not being able to play in their match set for March 10 at the Wells Fargo Center could be a bit of a relief for the 2016 NBA Rookie of the Year awardee who is expected to hear it from a rowdy crowd.

Danny Green, a former teammate of Simmons, gave his own take on the matter and predicted that the latter will most likely elect to sit out.

“First, I’d be highly surprised if he even plays in that game. I don’t know where his health is–mentally, physically, I know he had other issues–and we all know he does not like to play in Philly. So if he does play in that game, I’d be highly surprised,” Green said via his podcast in a report by Adam Herman of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Time heals all wounds, but it will be interesting if Sixers fans can even forgive and forget about the highly-publicized right between Simmons and the 76ers.

But right now, seeing him play again is what most want to see.

The injury is something that Nets coach Steve Nash feels is a minor setback.

Regardless, there remains no official timetable on when Simmons can officially play his first game as a member of the Nets.
