  • LaVar Ball does not want Harden to join the Hornets and Pelicans
  • LaVar feels youngest son LaMelo deserves to be in the starting lineup
  • The vocal father sees good things ahead for eldest Lonzo

LaVar Ball has two of his three sons playing in the NBA for the 2020-21 season, and it would only be a matter of time before he would speak up.

Aside from that, he gave his take on the James Harden trade rumor mill and gave an interesting conclusion.

Most know that Ball’s youngest son LaMelo did not exactly have a good first official NBA game with the Hornets. He was scoreless in 16 minutes of action but managed to issue three assists along with three turnovers.

That performance made the record books as the first rookie to end up with 0 points since Otto Porter Jr. back in 2013. Other players who did the same were Hasheem Thabeet in 2009 and Greg Oden in 2008 according to ESPN Stats & Info.

Regardless, Ball feels that the 19-year-old should be in the starting five of the Hornets.

"If [Melo is] your marquee guy, what marquee guy doesn’t start?" Ball said during a Big Baller brand charity event in Los Angeles via TMZ.

LaMelo missed all five shots he took in that 16-minute run. Regardless, those who saw the game are confident that the third overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft has the skills to succeed in the league. That includes NBA great Shaquille O’Neal.

As for his other boys, LaVar believes that LiAngelo will eventually get his chance. His middle son got waived without playing a single game for the Detroit Pistons in the NBA preseason.

He also weighed in on the situation of Lonzo Ball and was excited. He believes that his eldest will be a good fit into the system of first-year head coach Stan Van Gundy.

Finally, he was asked to give his opinion about Harden. LaVar feels that the Houston Rockets should not stand in the way.

However, he is hoping that the 2018 NBA MVP does not end up moving to Charlotte or New Orleans for obvious reasons.

So far, either team has not been linked to the eight-time All-Star which should give LaVar a sigh of relief for now.
