NBA Rumors: Miami Heat May See Oladipo Back But Return Could Cost Them
KEY POINTS
- Oladipo may return to the Miami Heat roster but will be monitored closely
- Spoelstra will have to turn to Dragic and Nunn to step up for the rest of the way
- Oladipo may have a hard time getting a good contract after this season
The Miami Heat could see Victor Oladipo back in the lineup at some point this NBA season--with multiple reports that he has been recovering from his quadriceps injury seamlessly.
However, Oladipo may not be his usual self with the Heat taking a cautious approach to making sure that the injury does not worsen.
It appears to be the same injury that Oladipo suffered in 2019 when he was still with the Indiana Pacers.
Oladipo suffered the injury against the Los Angeles Lakers when he went up for a dunk. There was no one around him at the time, and the second overall pick of the 2013 NBA Draft could be seen clutching his knee afterward.
With Oladipo not at 100%, such could affect the Heat’s chances of making a good NBA playoff run.
Head coach Erik Spoelstra may have to revert to his other guys like Goran Dragic and Kendrick Nunn to fill up the slack.
Hence, it won’t come as a surprise if Oladipo ends up getting spot minutes for the rest of the way to avoid a more serious injury.
But looking beyond this season, it raises questions on whether the Heat or any other NBA team would hand the 28-year-old guard a hefty deal.
His injuries have been a cause for concern, and such could deprive him of landing a good deal.
Dragic could ably fill that void although the Slovenian has been struggling as of late.
The good news is that “The Dragon” has proven he can get back in shape, ironically at the homestretch like last season.
But like Oladipo, Dragic too is not spared from injury problems.
Hence, it may all boil down to Nunn, Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson to try and fill up the void.
Oladipo was seen as a good addition, but his health issues have somehow tarnished expectations for Miami this season.
