Emmanuel Mudiay is an NBA player who has a budding future if given the right playing time. After kicking off his career as the main point guard for the Denver Nuggets, the former seventh overall pick of the 2015 NBA Draft found himself moving to New York last February.

Although it has only been a couple of months, Mudiay is fully aware of the Kevin Durant and New York Knicks buzz. And while most consider it a distraction, it is something that the 23-year-old has learned to adjust to.

"Is that someone New York definitely wants? No doubt, with what he’s done in his career. The scorer he is. The type of player he is. The type of person he is. I wouldn’t say it’s a distraction, but I would say you can’t miss it," Mudiay said partly in a chat with SI TV.

One can only imagine how Mudiay would love to work alongside Durant if everything falls into place. However, there could be someone standing in the way, and he goes by the name of Kyrie Irving.

The word going around is that should Durant indeed sign up with the Knicks in the offseason, he will attempt to recruit Irving as well, according to the Bleacher Report. If that comes to fruition, it may mean that Mudiay will have to face whittled minutes unless he and Uncle Drew end up playing side-by-side. That means one would need to play the shooting guard position - something both cagers can fill up, although they would be sacrificing a bit of height in the backcourt.

This is a scenario that could happen. It could be Durant alone or KD and Irving. But as most know, making this happen is easier said than done. The Golden State Warriors are unlikely to let the former NBA MVP easily and the same goes for Irving with the Boston Celtics.

Also, several teams are expected to pitch to both players. Durant will have his share of suitors while Irving has been linked to some teams like the Los Angeles Lakers. The Knicks loom as an interesting stop but team owner James Dolan and head coach David Fizdale will have their work cut out for them this NBA offseason.
