NBA Rumors: Retired Heat Star Cherishes Rare Moment The Black Mamba
Team USA has made the headlines recently although it was more about that loss to Australia, 78-74, a couple of days ago. Usually known to be one of the dominant teams in the world basketball stage, the defeat snapped the 78-game international win streak of USA Basketball.
The good news is that Team USA's loss came from a tune-up match, NBC Sports reported. It becomes a wake-up call for head coach Gregg Popovich and company as they try to make adjustments before the FIBA World Cup kicks off in China. At any rate, it appears coach Pop and company will have to find a way to survive with the current lineup which most feel lacks star power.
Speaking of Team USA, there was a time where they simply steamrolled past the competition. One happened way back during the 2008 Summer Olympics where stars like Dwyane Wade and Kobe Bryant suited up for USA Basketball. Thanks to technology, fans and players are still able to look back at those moments - including D-Wade.
The former Miami Heat star reacted to the video showing one of the highlight reels involving him and Bryant. Team USA was playing Greece at the time. Wade stole a pass in the second quarter and made a lob pass to Bryant for the jam.
That team was star-studded and included D-Wade's future teammates LeBron James and Chris Bosh. That team won eight games by an average margin of nearly 28-points. What made it special is that it was the only time where NBA fans would see Wade and Bryant playing on the same team.
Wade spent most of his NBA career in the Eastern Conference while Bryant played solely for the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference. Hoop junkies may not think much about it now but it is a rare chance to see two high-flyers on the same team side-by-side.
Ironically, both Wade and Bryant had the chance to play alongside another NBA legend in Shaquille O'Neal. Bryant won three titles with the Diesel (2000-02) while Wade teamed up with the 7-foot-1 behemoth in 2006 to hand the Heat its first NBA title.
