LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers has practically achieved everything an NBA player could ever hope for. Hence, pundits believe that the three-time NBA champion could care less about what lies ahead for the purple and gold although Earvin “Magic” Johnson believes otherwise.

Johnson, who stepped down recently as basketball president of the Lakers, believes that James will stay because it will be a new challenge on his end. The NBA great shared his rationale on ESPN's "First Take," explaining how the King has a chance to turn things around for the franchise and put the young talent around him to good use, Silver Screen and Roll reported.

Following weeks of unrest over in Los Angeles, this dish from Johnson should somehow ease the tension. For someone who revealed the real reason behind his exit, believing in the Lakers and explaining the possibilities is something most would least expect from the Lakers great. And while he did not mention it, the Lakers are in for a rough ride moving forward as they rebuild (again) and assemble a team that can hopefully make it (at least) to the NBA playoffs next season.

Frank Vogel has been given the task to steer the Lakers this time around following the exit of Luke Walton who is now with the Sacramento Kings. Los Angeles owns the rights to the fourth overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft with no clarity yet on who they would be plucking out.

Among the names being linked to the purple and gold are Darius Garland and De’Andre Hunter, Lakers Nation reported. There is also that possibility that the Lakers could use that fourth overall selection and package it to get that second NBA stars they have been looking for. The possibilities are simply endless at this point.

James is already doing his part helping recruit NBA stars to join the Lakers fold. He has reportedly touched base with Jimmy Butler and Kawhi Leonard although nothing has been set in stone. The point here is that even with the turmoil in Hollywood, James is showing that he still wants to prove that he has what it takes to lead a team to the NBA Finals.

Depending on how the rebuilding efforts turn out, the Lakers could make it as early as the 2019-20 NBA season if everything falls into place.
