NBA Rumors: Veteran Thunder Swingman Missing In Action Could Lead To Lakers Reunion

Trevor Ariza is signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder but has been noticeably absent from the club.

The 35-year-old is said to be dealing with personal problems, but speculation is growing that he may be on the move again before Mar. 25.

Ariza has proven himself in more ways than one. He has an NBA ring to show, something he copped with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2009.

Since then, the second-round pick has become a journeyman and has figured prominently when his number is called.

But with the veteran swingman conspicuously out, critics feel that he could be moving to a new team soon. Ariza would be a notable addition to any team, especially teams looking to beef up heading into the NBA postseason.

One of them is the Los Angeles Lakers, a franchise that needs all the help and experience they can get.

As mentioned in a previous post, Ariza could be a viable addition if the Purple-and-Gold brigade opts to move on from Wes Matthews.

But given their situation right now, adding the 6-foot-8 player to the mix even with Matthews still around could make sense.

The Los Angeles Lakers recently traded Quin Cook to open up two roster spots. The wise money is that they will be looking to fill that void up with a big man to shore up their frontline.

Anthony Davis is dealing with an injury, but head coach Frank Vogel wants to make sure that the slot does not go to waste.

Right now, they have settled for Damian Jones but only on a 10-day contract.

That other roster spot could be a tailor-made fit for Ariza if he is made available. However, there are things to consider such as the fact that Thunder general manager Sam Presti is not fond of buyouts.

But with the veteran out of the Thunder's current rotation, that is subject to change.
