KEY POINTS

  • The Warriors see James Wiseman as a potential superstar
  • The Dubs are not interested in any trade offer that involves Wiseman
  • Golden State can only get better once Klay Thompson and Wiseman return to action

Sophomore center James Wiseman of the Golden State Warriors has been constantly mentioned in trade rumors.

Regardless, the Dubs have made it clear that they have no intention of dealing away the 7-footer and consider him a key piece moving forward.

Wiseman has yet to play in the NBA regular season as he continues to fully recover after undergoing meniscus surgery.

But the good news is that he appears well on his way to making a return for the Dubs, who have been showing glimpses of their old deadly form.

As far as trading the native of Tennessee, it was again reiterated that NBA teams who plan to try and get their hands on Wiseman can just forget it.

The No. 2 pick of the 2020 NBA Draft is not on the table and is viewed as a potential star, Tim Kawakami of The Athletic reported.

In his rookie year, there is no question that Wiseman had potential. Although he played in only 39 games, he averaged 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per Basketball-Reference.

Considering he was playing along with top stars like Stephen Curry, the former Memphis standout made a good account of himself before he got injured.

Most of all, Wiseman is still at the young age of 20. With the performance he has shown thus far, there is no question that the sophomore cager can still improve and has a promising future ahead of him.

It is possibly the same reason that several teams have in mind, a reason why there is growing interest.

Curry, along with Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins and the anticipated return of Klay Thompson, is expected to keep the Dubs ship afloat.

Considering the Warriors are lording it at the top of the Western Conference standings with a 21-4 win-loss record, there is no denying that Golden State will be a team to watch especially once the NBA postseason wars come around.

Curiously, Wiseman could fill a gaping hole in the middle–something that has been a concern for Steve Kerr and company.

But once he is good to go, the Dubs may boast of a deadly first-team once Wiseman is officially ready to return to action.
