NBA Rumors: Why Kevin Durant Met With Kyrie Irving In New York

While in New York, Kevin Durant reportedly met with fellow NBA superstar Kyrie Irving to talk about the possibility of them playing together.

Ever since Durant travelled to NYC for surgery on his ruptured Achilles tendon, the media has been following the latest on the Warriors star. And now, sources claim that KD and Irving had a meeting in New York, and apparently had a personal conversation pertaining to the potential of them playing together in the same team.

Ric Bucher of The Bleacher Report revealed the details about the latest updates on Durant in NYC, saying that during an appearance on Friday’s edition of The Herd with Colin Cowherd on Fox Sports Radio, Durant actually met with Irving after he checked out of the hospital and talked about potentially teaming-up next season.

"He's out of the hospital. He's moved into a hotel for the time being in the New York area, and he and Kyrie have met,” Bucher said.

Bucher then emphasized that the 2018 Finals MVP is currently planning on staying in New York for quite some time to further look at his future with the Big Apple and to stretch the options of being with a different team because Irving is definitely not going to sign with the Warriors.

“They've continued the discussion about potentially playing together next season. KD has moved all his stuff. He's planning on spending the summer and the foreseeable future in New York. Every indication, if we're tea-leaf reading at this point, is that KD is making plans to be elsewhere because obviously Kyrie is not going to be joining the Warriors any time soon," Bucher noted.

Before this apparent meeting in NYC occurred, Skip Bayless has already predicted that Durant and Irving would eventually find themselves playing together for the Knicks in the near future.

Bayless pointed out that the decorated tandem will both opt to play for the Knicks despite the almost done deal reports about Irving signing with the Brooklyn Nets, NESN reported.

“Do I think (Irving) is going to pair up with another really moody superstar in Kevin Durant, with either the Knicks or Nets? I do,” Bayless said.

“And I still believe that even though the Nets are much better run than the Knicks are, clearly, I still think that Kevin will lean Knicks. That’s just a gut feeling I have, because Kevin knows how much it would mean for him, and also obviously Kyrie, to put the Knicks back on the map. I just got a feeling they would lean that direction. So I don’t think all these Roc Nation connections mean absolutely they’re going to Brooklyn,” Bayless explained.
