Stephen Curry may be out for the Golden State Warriors after incurring a fractured left hand against the Phoenix Suns recently. The injury will keep the two-time NBA MVP out for at least three months. This is bad news for the Dubs but not for USA Basketball. Apparently, Curry has his mind set on playing at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and he does have the benefit of time.

His dad, Dell Curry, revealed in a report from ESPN that playing in the Olympics was one of his son’s goals. If the projected return holds up, Steph could be back as early as late January. Team USA is expected to commence preparations for the Olympics on July 24.

“Absolutely. That was definitely a goal coming into this year. He wants to play in the Olympics," Dell Curry said. "This is a little setback, but hopefully it's a goal he can strive for through his rehab."

Steph himself has yet to air his take on the Olympics. Apparently, it would be a missing feather in his cap. The 31-year-old has a couple of World Cup gold medals but has never played in the Olympics, Yahoo Sports reported.

Right now, however, the immediate concern is the Warriors. With Draymond Green and D’Angelo Russell also suffering injuries, it will be interesting if the Dubs will still field the six-time NBA All-Star once he is cleared to return. There are suggestions that Golden State could consider tanking the rest of the way with most of their key players in sickbay.

Curry and Green said before the start of the 2019-20 NBA wars that they feel they can still make the playoffs. The duo would need to double their efforts and hope the rest follow their lead. But injuries may have altered their plans. As things stand now, the Dubs may find it tough to keep abreast of other teams with a decimated roster.

Moving forward, the Warriors are playing with players who may be new to the eyes of NBA fans. There is still no word on whether they will consider free agents to fill up roster spots. Head coach Steve Kerr needs to decide on some things soon. The most important one is who to temporarily get for the Dubs to survive the 2019-20 NBA season.
