The Minnesota Timberwolves are now in a 13-game losing streak in the NBA. Their last victory was all the way back to January 10, 2020, when they defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers. They won that game with the final score of 118-103. But Karl-Anthony Towns sat out that game as his teammates stepped up.

It’s been a frustrating season for the former number one overall pick of the draft. He hasn’t won a game since November as he’s nursed an injury for the past two months.

Their latest loss came from the hands the last place team in the Eastern Conference, the Atlanta Hawks. The two stars of the team Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins scored 21 and 25 points respectively. This effort wasn’t enough as Trae Young went for 38 points and 11 assists. The game was sealed for the Atlanta Hawks with a late three-pointer by 43-year-old Vince Carter.

He hasn’t been happy with how he and his team are performing with their disappointing 15-35 record. They are currently sitting in 14th place in the Western Conference with only the Golden State Warriors trailing them. He shared that his patience is running low with how the situation is now for the Timberwolves.

To alleviate their disgruntled big man, the Minnesota Timberwolves acquired former All-Star D’Angelo Russell in a deal that involves Andrew Wiggins.

Golden State has agreed to trade D'Angelo Russell to Minnesota for a deal that includes Andrew Wiggins, a 2021 protected first-round pick and a 2022 second-round pick, league sources tell ESPN. Warriors will send Jacob Evans and Omari Spellman to Timberwolves too.

Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell were the first and second picks of the 2015 NBA draft and have been known as good friends.

This trade will most likely keep Karl-Anthony Towns happy in the interim. But it will all eventually boil down to if the team is producing wins. Karl-Anthony Towns has been statistically successful in terms of individual output.

He is a two time NBA All-Star and has already been selected to an All-NBA team. He is averaging a double-double this season with 26.7 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. Although he’s producing stats, their team continues to struggle. Hopefully, the chemistry he has with D’Angelo Russell will be enough to translate to a better win-loss record.
