KEY POINTS

  • The trade deadline is fast approaching
  • Derrick Rose has been understanding of the situation despite being in trade rumors
  • Andre Drummond is a major piece the Detroit Pistons can work around with for a trade

February 6 is just around the corner and teams are seeking to find the best deal to add for their team. With the playoff race increasing the stakes as the year passes by, a mid-season trade can make or break a team’s chances of making a deep push.

However, there are other teams that will benefit more from taking a bigger risk of rebuilding their squad. The Detroit Pistons are speculated to be in that position as they sit currently at 11th place in the Eastern Conference. They are at 17 wins and 33 losses in the middle of the season. To make matters worse, All-Star Blake Griffin is most likely out for the season as he recovers from knee surgery.

Despite the team’s struggles, their starting point guard, former league MVP, Derrick Rose has shown signs of stardom. He’s in a tear lately as he’s in a current 20-point outing spree for 14 games straight. Although he wants to stay in Detroit, a front office move is not too farfetched to imagine. "[Pistons vice chairman] Arn [Tellem] gave me his word that if something were to happen, he will text or call, but I told him that I want to stay here, but it's not up to me. You already know how that goes,” said the Former MVP per Bleacher Report.

These moves include starting big man Andre Drummond, who has been a positive note for the Pistons as he serves as a moveable piece.

He has been in the discussion about a trade for months now, as teams have desired interest for the consistent double-double player. The Hawks have shown notice for Andre Drummond offering a 2020 first-round pick along with expiring contract relief for the Detroit Pistons.

Although the 6-foot-11 veteran proves to be a major presence inside for any team, there’s a chance that he can be an unrestricted free agent after the end of the season – serving as a slight risk of teams not trading for him after all.

The Detroit Pistons moving the former MVP and Andre Drummond is a story to look out for in the last few days before the trade deadline.
