KEY POINTS

  • Kings are in no hurry to deal Bojan Bogdanovic
  • Bogdanovic trade will only happen at the right price
  • Lakers may need to offer more than Kyle Kuzma to get Bogdanovic

With less than a month before the NBA trade deadline, cagers who could be dealt are swelling. One name that has recently made headlines is Bogdan Bogdanovic of the Sacramento Kings. However, it appears Sacramento is in no hurry to deal the 27-year-old Serbian.

Undoubtedly one of the tempting players to target this February, Bogdanovic's name was recently linked to a possible trade with the Los Angeles Lakers. In exchange, the purple and gold could dangle Kyle Kuzma -- the youngster who has been the subject of trade talks with the Lakers looking for someone who can help ease the load off LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

But according to Jason Jones of The Athletic, it would take a ridiculous offer to get the deal done. This is despite the fact that Bogdanovic will become a restricted free agent after this season. Despite the possibility of the 6-foot-6 swingman possibly moving out, it appears Sacramento is willing to take the risk and play Bogdanovic out if no credible offers are on the table.

For this season, the 27th overall pick of the 2014 NBA Draft is averaging 14.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists per contest. He owns a 42.6-percent shooing clip from the field and 38.3-percent from the three-point region. Teams in need of offense and outside shooting could benefit well with Bogdanovic in the lineup.

The season has not exactly been a good one for the Kings. They are 14-23 in the NBA Western Conference and can still mathematically make the postseason wars. As far as going deep into the NBA playoffs, odds of the Kings advancing are not looking so bright.

If so, this means the Lakers may need to come up with something lucrative to get the Kings to agree to an NBA trade. Kuzma has not exactly performed well after starting the season injured. The Lakers are exploring trade opportunities but their main target is a playmaker - a reason why the names of Darren Collison and D.J. Augustine of the Orlando Magic have been afloat. Much of this was discussed in a previous post.
