NBA Trade Rumors: Mavs, Hornets Among Teams Interested In Kevin Love
One of the remaining big names on the Cleveland Cavaliers roster is Kevin Love. Although he has yet to return to the floor, the 30-year-old could be dealt at some point once he does recover from his injury.
Love is still recovering from a foot injury, and the all-star forward is clueless about when he can return to action. However, he did say that he has not totally shut the door on playing this season. A return could help the Cavs, but it seems they are not getting beyond the regular season wars.
”I would just hope to come back whether it be right before All-Star break after All-Star break just things to start trending in the right direction and give the fans and this organization some hope for better times that are going to be here,” Love told Cleveland.com.
He could play a couple of games first before teams start inquiring about his availability. But with the Feb. 7 trade deadline fast approaching, there are several teams who may not mind waiting for him to get back to full health.
In a previous report, Cavs front-office personnel are open to any trade involving Love. The Denver Nuggets were a potential destination, but it seems more teams are joining the fray.
The Dallas Mavericks and the Charlotte Hornets have reportedly expressed interest in the 30-year-old center-forward, Amico Hoops claimed. Despite playing only four games so far this season, a deal could go down before the February trade deadline.
Being a five-time all-star, there is no question that Love could be a valuable addition to either team. The Mavs have a promising rising star in Luka Doncic, while the Hornets could use a reliable big man to combo with Kemba Walker.
Once healthy, Love could be a force to reckon with both inside and outside. This depends on how well he recovers from the foot surgery he underwent last November.
Hence, it may end up being a gamble for any team that trades for Love before the trade deadline. Some may opt to wait until he does get back on the floor to play and assess if he still has the hops to go up against other NBA big men.
There are also money matters tied up to Love. He signed a four-year $120 million deal with the Cavs last July. This means that either team will have to offload players and contracts in the process to make it all work.
