A lot of talking has increased with the trade deadline being a week away. Although superstar names aren’t thrown as much as in previous years, it’s still a very pivotal time for the NBA. With the final date set on February 6, 2020, teams have begun their chase in grabbing their best pieces for their perfect roster. These are critical for a franchise especially for those gunning for a deep playoff run.

The stakes are high and the pressure is on for the front office to ensure a strong and cohesive unit is carrying their team colors.

One of these stories is how the struggling Minnesota Timberwolves are looking for a significant piece to their team. Although the Timberwolves were off to a considerably good start, they’ve plummeted down to 14th place in the Western Conference with a win-loss record of 15-32. The only team below them is the last-place Golden State Warriors.

The Timberwolves have Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins racking up strong performances with averages of 20 plus points per game that end in demoralizing defeats. Karl-Anthony Towns is averaging close to 27 points per game along with 10.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists. Andrew Wiggins is having one of his better years with around 23 points per game 5.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists per outing. As reported by Clutch Points, the Timberwolves have inquired about the availability of Aaron Gordon. Having a rising star in Aaron Gordon can change their struggles with another dunking machine in their midst.

The Orlando Magic can get a package that includes Robert Covington in the mix. Robert Covington has been in the trade talks for now with teams interested in his defense coupled with his three-point shooting.

The Timberwolves and the Magic setting up a deal can be beneficial for both teams in the discussion. The Timberwolves are trying to bounce back from a disappointing season. The Orlando Magic, on the other hand, has struggled with Aaron Gordon’s true position. He’s sometimes listed as a three but is perceived to be more effective in the power forward slot. A change of scenery on his end might unlock the true potential of the high flying forward. His stats may not be of All-Star level yet but his 13.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists can be serviceable to other teams.
