KEY POINTS

  • The coronavirus has affected everyone in the world
  • Several NBA players are keeping themselves busy with the league on hold
  • Trae Young had a little three-point contest indoors to pass the time

The suspension of the NBA has caused a different reaction from everyone across the world. People have been coping through different means in this bizarre time. Some have resulted in dancing and some have flocked to YouTube to watch old highlights, while Trae Young decided to come up with his own three-point shootout indoors.

The second-year point guard has had a phenomenal season before the season hiatus. The Atlanta Hawks standout has been averaging 29.6 points a game to go with 9.3 assists per outing.

While the Hawks are near the bottom of the standings in the Eastern Conference, Young has been a bright spot for their franchise. Young was selected as a first time NBA All-Star starter this season and is looking forward to improving in years to come.

With the season on hold, the franchise owners are looking at least a three-month break and are seeking to come back at around mid-to-late June.

As there are restrictions on what a person can do with social distancing, the Hawks’ sharpshooter decided to pass the time with his own indoor three-point shootout. With rolled-up socks and a laundry hamper, the hooper went around to hoist up shots as if it were the actual All-Star weekend.

This ensued a reaction from the fans, emphasizing how much they miss the world with sports.

The coronavirus has been a real threat to everyone in the world. The sense of urgency increased when even NBA players were tested positive of the virus. Rudy Gobert was the first to be known to the public and then was followed by fellow Utah Jazz teammate Donovan Mitchell. Just a few days later the Detroit Pistons’ Christian Wood was also tested positive of coronavirus. It’s important to note that Wood had a recent matchup with Gobert where he tallied 30 points and 11 rebounds.

The league might be considering a different approach once the season comes back. Playing without fans is a possible option to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone.
