NBC Website Hacking Reverted After Quick Restoration
Several NBC websites, including the mobile landing page, the Saturday Night Live site and NBC Sports Rotoworld page that were hacked into early Nov. 4, were quickly restored after the sudden hacking episode.
Apparently, during the hacking attack, the websites sported black starry background with banners reading "hacked by pyknic," Mashable has reported.
The hacked pages screamed, "Remember, remember, the fifth of November," probably bearing reference to Guy Fawkes Day, during which Hacker Anonymous had pledged to hack the sites.
Hacker pyknic also left a note stating that "user info," and "passwords," were exposed.
Even Lady Gaga fan site named GagaDaily was temporarily affected by the pyknic hacking, Mashable has pointed out.
A video footage from NowThisNews reportedly captured details of the websites before they were restored featuring even the music that was embedded onto NBC pages.
Hacking group Anonymous does not seem to have links to the attack though it recently announced plans to attack Facebook on Guy Fawkes Day, ZDNet has reported, adding: Attacks without a real message, such as those that occurred on NBC are not characteristic of Anonymous attacks.
