‘NCIS’ Season 14 Spoilers: What Happened In Episode 3? Team Solves A Marine Sargent’s Tragic Fall In ‘Privileged Information’ [RECAP]
CBS’ “NCIS” premiered an exciting, bird-loving episode this week. Last week, the long-running crime procedural’s Season 14 aired an episode in which a murder took place at a high school reunion. In Season 14, episode 3, Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his team solved the case of a Marine Sargent who had a tragic fall.
Here’s a quick recap of “Privileged Information”:
Is It Murder Or Suicide?
Marine Sgt. Erin Hills suddenly falls from the roof and disrupts a peaceful yoga class. At first it looks like she survived the fall, but the doctors think she won’t wake up. Since her client is in a coma and not dead, her psychologist, Dr. Grace Confalone (Laura San Giacomo), is prevented from divulging information about her client due to the doctor-patient confidentiality agreement. What she does tells Gibbs is this: Erin was most certainly murdered.
The building manager, Greg Abdell, shows the team the roof on which Erin was at before falling. They spot a security camera and ask Abby (Pauley Perrette) to get the footage of her jump.
Meanwhile, Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) asks Greg to show him an apartment in which the previous owner – an old man named Mr. Odetts – died. The death was ruled as an accident.
Erin Dies
Unfortunately, Erin dies after battling for her life. Her sister Devon, who she also lived with, is devastated. The only silver lining is that now Dr. Confalone can tell Gibbs and his team everything about Erin. She tells him that her client confessed to covering up a murder. She didn’t go to the police because she wanted to protect someone.
Ducky Examines The Body
Ducky (Donald Mallard) does an autopsy of the murder victim and finds out that she was drugged before her fall.
Abby Makes A Breakthrough
Upon closely examining the footage of Erin falling down, Abby realizes that she was wearing a different watch than the one they found on her body on the day of her death. Which means, someone tampered with the security footage. The video shows her on the roof alone but on a different day.
Greg And Devon
The NCIS team also investigate the so-called accidental death of Mr. Odetts. Turns out that his death wasn’t actually an accident – Ducky examines his corpse and learns that he was actually killed by a blow to the head from a glass object. On the surface, it looked like he hit his head on a glass table and died, but someone actually murdered him.
Guess who is good at IT and has been convicted for crimes in the past? The building manager Greg is called in for questioning. With a whole lot of investigating and a little bit of interrogation, “NCIS” Season 14, episode 3 reveals that the culprits of the crime are Greg and his lover, Devon, a.k.a. Erin’s sister.
The couple knew that Mr. Odetts kept a gold coin collection that amounted to a significant amount of money. This money was enough for Greg to convince Devon that they must kill him. However, Devon denies killing her sister. That was certainly the work of Greg alone.
Torres Nabs The Killer
The NCIS team conduct a sting operation posing as potential buyers for the gold coins. However, during the trade, Greg learns that the team is on to him and bolts. Luckily, Torres nabs him.
Moreover, Abby provided some much needed humor on the episode by looking after her brother’s pet parrot in the office.
“NCIS” Season 14 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
