Ne-Yo And Crystal Renay Married: Singer's Ex-Fiancée Monyetta Shaw Explains Why Kids Weren’t At Ceremony
Two little faces were missing at Ne-Yo's wedding to model Crystal Renay: his 4-year-old son Mason Evan and 5-year-old daughter Madilyn Grace. The “Religious” singer's ex-fiancée Monyetta Shaw took to social media Sunday to explain to fans why her and Ne-Yo's kids were not able to make the ceremony.
According to the Shade Room, Shaw posted a lengthy response on Instagram saying that her children had a previously scheduled school engagement on the day of Ne-Yo's wedding.
“Not that it’s anyone’s business I have a few secs to entertain since we are all done with these school visits for today ... Any involved parent in search for the best school for their children knows how important this process is & I don’t take it lightly," she said. "It’s a very long process & we are at the end which is the kids observation at schools.”
Shaw wrote that the school observation had been booked since December, and she did try to figure out a way for them to go to keep the visit and go to the wedding.
"My #1 concern & priority are my kids! NOTHING will EVER change that!!! Anyway, the kids are excited & looking forward 2 spending time with their father, new little brother & step-mom this summer," she posted.
Ne-Yo's new wife Renay also commented on the kids' absence, posting on Instagram that she missed them but knows "they had important school business to handle."
The 36-year-old R&B singer and Renay, who's pregnant with their first child together, married Saturday at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, near Los Angeles.
“We can’t wait to start our life together,” Ne-Yo told People magazine. “We’re looking forward to just being each other’s best friend.”
He continued, “This is big for me. I’m not doing this again, so I’m happy that my family and friends are able to be there to share this moment with us. We’re human beings, so we’re gonna bump heads on different things, but we’ve agreed that this is going to be a marriage that lasts.”
