Neil Patrick Harris Nails it! Gets Star at Hollywood Walk of Fame
Suit up! It is time for a celebration! As Neil Patrick Harris' character Barney Stinson always says I am Awesome!, undoubtedly, he is. He has been honored by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce with his first star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
As much of an honor as this is, unfortunately, it won't be the first time I've been plastered on the sidewalk in front of the Frolic Room, the Emmy-winner joked at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, noting his star's placement near a dive bar and the Pantages Theater. And yes, that includes right now, MSNBC reported.
Harris, who is openly gay, plays Barney Stinson, a womanizer, and most certainly, no other actor could have done justice to the Barney character like Harris does.
I love it, the 38-year-old actor told E! News after his acceptance speech. It's the perfect blend. I'm partly theater and I'm partly getting wasted, so it's a nice combination.
Quite simply, he's the mostly wildly talented person I've ever been around, co-star Jason Segel told MSNBC. There's no jokes coming up in this part, this part's sincere: He can act and he can sing and he can dance, and he's a magician, and he can host and he can direct. Like Joss said, he has the kind of talent that people had in the old days when you had to actually be talented to be famous.
Harris confirmed his relationship with partner David Burtka in an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2004. They now have fraternal twins Gideon Scott, a boy, and Harper Grace, a girl, via a surrogate mother.
Right now, my twins, Gideon and Harper, are too young to understand this honor. They spend most of their time peeing and vomiting on me. But let's be honest, that's probably what's going to happen nightly to my star here outside the Frolic Room, he said.
But someday, when they're older, I'll take them here, my heart bursting with pride, and say, 'Kids, your old man was the 587th Hollywood star in the television category. And God that sounds good!
Accompanying Harris at the ceremony was Burtka, whom Harris says he loves more than anything in the world, Except this star, he said.
After the Marriage Equality Act was passed in New York in June. Harris and Burtka announced their engagement via Twitter.
