Nelly’s Rape Accuser Halts Investigation; Refuses To Testify In Court

Nelly’s 21-year-old rape accuser, whose name hasn’t been released, wants the case that she filed against the rapper to be dropped.

Last week, the college student claimed that Nelly sexually assaulted her on his tour bus in Washington. Nelly has since denied the allegations, and his lawyer said that they were “completely fabricated.” “Our initial investigation clearly establishes the allegation is devoid of credibility and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness,” he told TMZ in a statement.

In the letter obtained by The Blast, the rape accuser’s lawyer, Karen Koehler, said that her client has contacted the Auburn Police Department and the King County Prosecutor’s Office on Friday to put a halt on the criminal investigation. Koehler also said that her client has refused to testify in court.

“She never wanted a dime from that man. She wants to go back to school and to graduate. And this she cannot do if she remains hidden in her room, crying her heart out,” the lawyer said.

Earlier this week, Nelly’s lawyer said that his client is ready to fight in court. “Nelly is prepared to pursue all legal avenues to redress any damage caused by this clearly false allegation.”

Meanwhile, the accuser’s lawyer also revealed that her client was concerned over the fact that the detectives handling the case didn’t guarantee her identity will be kept hidden. “One day, maybe our world will changed and thirty women will not be needed to eventually speak out against a celebrity who has hurt them in order to be believed. But that day has not come,” Koehler said.

Amid the accusations thrown at the “Hot In Herre” singer, his longtime girlfriend, Shantel Jackson, stood by his side. The reality TV star uploaded a teaser from E!s “The Platinum Life” via her Instagram account where she spoke positively of the rapper. Jackson said that she and Nelly always want to have fun. She also uploaded a photo of the two of them, where Nelly is seen kissing Jackson’s cheek.

Nelly and Jackson started dating in 2014, after her engagement to Floyd Mayweather Jr. was called off. Nelly was previously in a relationship with Ashanti, but the estranged couple decided to keep their union out of the public eye when they were still together.
