Nestlé Recall: This Toll House Cookie Dough May Contain Foreign Material

Nestlé USA is recalling certain Toll House cookie dough products because they may contain foreign objects.

The recalled Nestlé Toll House Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough With Fudge Filling may contain pieces of white plastic, according to an announcement on the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) website.

The problem was discovered after "a small number of consumers" informed the company of the issue. The company then "took action out of an abundance of caution."

Foreign objects in food may be problematic, especially if they're hard or sharp and are in products that are ready to eat or require minimal preparation before consumption. In the case of the current recall, the company did not specify the characteristics of the potential foreign contaminant but clarified there were no reported injuries or illnesses related to the product.

The recall affects the Nestlé Toll House Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough With Fudge Filling with the UPC Code 050000429912. This information can be found at the back of the package under the bar code.

The affected products were produced from June to September and were distributed throughout the continental U.S., as well as Puerto Rico. They were sold at Publix stores.

Those who have the recalled product should not consume them. Instead, they should take it back to the place of purchase to get a refund or replacement.

The company clarified that "no other" Nestlé Toll House products are affected by the recall. Those with questions or need further assistance can contact the company at (800) 681-1676 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST Monday to Friday.

"The quality, safety and integrity of our products remain our number one priority," Nestle noted in its statement, adding that it is "fully" cooperating with the FDA on the recall. "We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this action represents to both our consumers and retail customers."
