Netflix Drops 'Blonde' Trailer Featuring Ana de Armas As Marilyn Monroe [Watch]
Netflix shared the trailer of the highly anticipated movie, "Blonde" where actress Ana de Armas will be seen playing the legendary Marilyn Monroe on screen.
In the two-minute trailer shared Thursday on YouTube, a man can be seen knocking on the door and saying, "Miss Monroe, it's time." The next scene shows Monroe sitting in her dressing room and looking into the mirror while blowing a kiss to herself.
The clip further shows Monroe giving an interview to a man wearing a suit. "How did you get your start?" the man asks to the actress and she replies, "I guess I was discovered."
Monroe further shares how she knows the fact that eventually she was supposed to get "used to it" but she can't, hinting at the fame and popularity. She went on to explain that every time she has to play "Marilyn Monroe," she doesn't want to do that anymore.
"Marilyn doesn't exist. When I come out of my dressing room, I'm Norma Jean," she said. "I'm still her when the camera is rolling." She added, "Marilyn Monroe only exists on the screen."
Fans shared their reaction in the comments section.
"Ana De Armas is spectacular in every sense," one of the fans wrote. "I would predict an Oscar for her, not necessarily for this movie, but in her career. But really talent like that doesn't need any recognition, it speaks by itself."
Another fan added, "Marilyn is such a complex and tragic figure. She deserves to be portrayed with sincerity and humanity and this definitely looks promising."
"Blonde" is based on Joyce Carol Oates' biographical fiction novel of the same name. Helmed by director Andrew Dominik, the movie also features Adrien Brody, Sara Paxton, Bobby Cannavale, Xavier Samuel, Julianne Nicholson and Rebecca Wisocky.
The movie is slated to release on Sept. 28, on Netflix.
Monroe, whose real name is Norma Jeane Mortenson, was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1926 and died in 1962 at the age of 36 due to a barbiturate overdose. Monroe was married to baseball player Joe DiMaggio from 1954 to 1955. She went on to marry Arthur Miller in 1956 but the couple got divorced in 1961, a year before her death.
