KEY POINTS

  • The docuseries will feature 21 years of Kanye West's life
  • It will also shed light on the rapper's failed presidential campaign
  • Coodie & Chike duo to direct the multi-part documentary

Netflix has reportedly acquired a multi-part documentary of Kanye West, featuring exclusive videos and rare home footage, for $30 million.

The documentary is expected to release later this year. While many outlets reported the online streaming giant acquired the documentary series for $30 million, Variety mentioned the figure was not accurate. The docuseries will feature 21 years of the rapper's life including his music, entrepreneurship, failed presidential campaign and his mother's demise.

However, it is unclear if the still untitled docuseries will feature Kim Kardashian and West's ongoing divorce. Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chike Ozah (known as Coodie & Chike) is all set to helm the documentary.

This is not the first time Coodie & Chike has collaborated with West. The duo worked with the rapper in 2004 for "Jesus Walks (Version 3)" and "Through the Wire" music videos, the Billboard reported.

Previously they had directed and produced a "30 for 30" 2012 ESPN documentary based on basketball player Ben Wilson. Coodie & Chike also directed the "A Kid From Coney Island" documentary, which was based on former professional basketball player Stephon Marbury.

Earlier this year, West won the Grammy award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album, but he stayed low-key about the news and didn’t post anything about it on social media.

On the other hand, Kardashian was announced as a “billionaire” by Forbes on Tuesday. The 40-year-old “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star is now worth $1 billion thanks to her Skims and KKW Beauty companies along with her endorsements and reality TV.

Kardashian had filed for divorce from West on Feb. 19. The couple shares four children -- North West, Chicago West, Psalm West and Saint West. A recent episode of the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" had featured marital problems between Kardashian and West.

"It's no secret that everyone sees things in the media about my life with Kanye, but I've always been really respectful in not talking about [our] issues… I mean, you guys clearly see them on Twitter, so I'm still gonna choose to not really talk about it here," Kardashian told the cameras during the episode.

Kardashian's mother Kris Jenner reportedly is making efforts to save her daughter's marriage.
