Is Netflix venturing into the gaming industry? Well, not really. But the streaming service has just launched its very own side-scrolling, running game to give its subscribers something to enjoy while waiting for the next episode to load or just not in the mood to stream shows and movies.

Just this Saturday, The Verge learned that Netflix has launched what seems like an endless running game. Making this game interesting is the set of characters users can choose from. Apparently, the streaming company has made its game quite gripping for die-hard fans of its original shows.

Its side-scrolling 8-bit game features lead characters from its original titles. One can play as Pablo Escobar from “Narcos,” Piper Chapman from “Orange is the New Black,” Mike Wheeler from “Stranger Things” and Marco Polo from his titular show.

The game does not have a title, and its concept is something very familiar to mobile game players. All the chosen character does is sprint through the virtual world that is also based on the show where the character is from. For example, Wheeler has to run and jump over scientists and officers, while Chapman should jump to collect chickens and avoid cafeteria trays.

According to Polygon, players have to go through several stages and each is different from the others. Nevertheless, the gaming concept of running remains the same. Plus, fans would be glad to know that chiptune versions of the shows’ theme songs are present in the games. As for controls, one can command his or her character to jump by just pressing the space bar. For higher or longer jumps, hitting the space bar twice does the trick.

The game is already available to play in North America, but the streaming company has only promoted it on a few social media channels. Gizmodo reports the game was made last year, and it looks like the “simplest, cheapest version of 'Super Mario Run.'" Nevertheless, fans would surely love dashing through the worlds of their favorite shows.
