Netflix Thanksgiving Movies 2017: 6 Films To Stream During Turkey Day Celebration
With the holiday season officially coming up quick, the abundance of holiday themed movies on services like Netflix are quickly adding up. However, while Christmas movies are available in a significant amount, movies set around the Thanksgiving holiday are a little bit harder to find.
However, thankfully, there are a few movies that are available on the streaming service which those who are bigger fans of Turkey Day can stream during their holiday celebration. From romantic stories, to horrific takes on the holiday, and loosely adapted versions of real history, there is something for everyone. Here are six options to stream during your 2017 feast:
1. "A Holiday Engagement" (2011):
Hilary's (Bonnie Summerville) plan to hire a good-looking guy (Jordan Bridges) as her boyfriend backfires when she brings him home for the holidays in an attempt to fool her family.
2. "Holiday Breakup" (2016):
A young couple (Manon Mathews, Shawn Roe) breaks up and decides to avoid the pity party of being single throughout the holiday season. Their solution? Pretend they're still together and fool their friends and family members over Thanksgiving and Christmas.
3. "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" (2000):
Kick off the holiday season with this family friendly classic, featuring the Grinch's (Jim Carrey) plans to hijack Christmas from Whoville, until some kindness from young Cindy Lou (Taylor Momsen) potentially warms his heart.
4. "Kristy" (2013):
After opting to spend the Thanksgiving holiday on campus, Justine (Haley Bennett) and her friends find their break unexpectedly interrupted by a sadistic gang.
5. "Pocahontas" (1995):
The first Thanksgiving was about settling a truce between Native AMericans and the Pilgrims, so why not honor that by watching this animated Disney version of the events, where a young American Indian girl tries to follow her heart and protect her tribe when settlers arrive and threaten the land that she loves.
6. "Pocahontas II: Journey To The New World" (1998):
Follow up watching the first story about Pocahontas with the sequel, where she sails to Europe to negotiate peace between her people and the British, following a rumor that John Smith has died.
