Netflix Titles Leaving In September 2018: Best Movies Disappearing From Streaming Service
Sorry Netflix subscribers, it’s that time of the month already. Several movies and TV shows are leaving Netflix in September, but there’s still time to watch the best titles before they disappear from the streaming services. Check out these eight movies before they expire:
“13 Going on 30” (leaving Sept. 1) This 2004 Jennifer Garner-Mark Ruffalo romantic comedy only has days left on Netflix. On her 13th birthday, Jenna wishes to be an adult, and she wakes up with her wish granted. She’s 30, single and seemingly stabbing her co-workers in the back. She takes the time to right all of adult Jenna’s wrongs, including getting back in touch with her old friend Matty.
“Dead Poets Society” (leaving Sept. 1) Robin Williams stars as John Keating in this 1989 drama about a teacher at a boys prep school. Keating has some unorthodox teaching methods, but that helps students like Neil Perry (Robert Sean Leonard) and Todd Anderson (Ethan Hawke) feel more confident and take more risks.
“A Royal Night Out” (leaving Sept. 1) This lesser-known gem follows the future Queen Elizabeth II (Sarah Gadon) and Princess Margaret (Bel Powley) on V-E Day in 1945. The teenage girls are allowed to go out incognito and see the celebrations with the intention of reporting the state of the general public to King George VI. They quickly ditch their bodyguards and get separated on different adventures.
“The Dark Knight” (leaving Sept. 1) The first and second installments of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy will be expiring on Netflix, but if you only have time for one, Heath Ledger’s unforgettable performance as the Joker is a must-watch. The 2008 film follows Batman (Christian Bale) as he tries to take down the new criminal.
“Disney’s Pete’s Dragon” (leaving Sept. 14) This 2016 film is a little more family-friendly. Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) always spoke about dragons in the woods, but everyone thought they were just myths. When locals discover that an 11-year-old orphan, Pete (Oakes Fegley), has been living in the woods with a dragon, they have a strong reaction. Bryce Dallas Howard, Karl Urban and Wes Bentley also star.
“A Star Is Born” (leaving Sept. 15) Before Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga star in the latest remake, check out the famous Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson version. Kristofferson’s rock star character has become an addict and his career has gone downhill. When he finds Esther (Streisand) performing, he falls hard for her. He brings her into the spotlight, but a new love doesn’t fix his old problems.
“Moonrise Kingdom” (leaving Sept. 16) Sam (Jared Gilman) and Suzy (Kara Hayward), both 12, are in love and plan to run away together. However, their plan hits a snag when an incoming storm makes the adults realize that the kids are missing. A search party is put together. Wes Anderson directed this 2012 coming-of-age film.
“The Imitation Game” (leaving Sept. 28) Benedict Cumberbatch portrays real-life mathematician Alan Turing, the man who helped crack Nazi codes during World War II. Despite helping end the war, the revelation that Turing was gay sent him to prison.
