Netflix’s ‘The Innocents’ TV Show: Cast, Trailer And Synopsis
Netflix’s latest original series, the YA supernatural romance “The Innocents,” hit the streaming service on Friday.
Created and written by Hania Elkington and Simon Duric, who also executive produce, the show follows teenagers June (Sorcha Groundsell) and Harry (Percelle Ascott) as they “run away from their repressive families to be together,” according to the synopsis. Their journey takes an unexpected turn when they discover June’s ability to shape-shift.
“As the star-crossed lovers struggle to control this strange new power, a mysterious professor reveals that June is not alone: there are more shifters out there like her, and he promises to cure June and reunite her with the mother who deserted her three years ago,” the synopsis reveals. This new ability isn’t the only thing the two must deal with as new dangers arise. Harry and June’s love will be tested along the way, and so will their dream of a simple life together.
Get to know the cast of Netflix’s “The Innocents” a little bit better, below, before checking out the eight-episode first season.
Sorcha Groundsell (June)
Before landing the lead in this new Netflix show, Groundsell starred in the three-part miniseries “In Plain Sight.” She played Jane Muncie in the 2016 series, which was based on a true story about Lanarkshire Detective William Muncie (Douglas Henshall). The following year, she took on the role of Elizabeth Smith in the BBC drama-thriller series “Clique.”
Percelle Ascott (Harry)
After making his onscreen debut in the 2010 TV movie “Excluded,” Ascott starred in the action-family series “Wizards vs. Aliens” from 2012 to 2014 as Benny Sherwood. During that time, he also starred in the British dramedy series “Youngers.” Most recently, his two-part film short “Shiro’s Story” was released.
Guy Pearce (Halvorson)
The 50-year-old actor got his start on the Australian soap opera “Neighbours” in the late 1980s, and then he hopped over to another long-running Australian series, “Home and Away,” in the early 1990s. He worked on the western drama “Snowy River: The McGregor Saga” after that, before moving on to star in a slew of movies, including “Rules of Engagement,” “Factory Girl,” “The Hurt Locker” and “The King’s Speech.” Since 2016, he’s starred as the titular character in the crime series “Jack Irish.”
Season 1 of “The Innocents” is now available to stream on Netflix.
