Is A New ‘9-1-1’ On Fox Tonight? Two-Part Season 2 Premiere Continues
What’s better than just one new episode of Fox’s “9-1-1” this week? How about two? Fans are in luck because that’s exactly what they are getting.
The first responder drama aired its Season 2 premiere Sunday night, titled “Under Pressure,” but that was only the beginning of a two-night event. Moving to its normal day and time, “9-1-1” will air another new episode tonight at 9 p.m. EDT. It’ll be the second half of the two-part Season 2 premiere, and it’s going to be a literally earth-shattering episode.
Titled “7.1,” Monday’s episode looks at what happens when a huge earthquake hits Los Angeles. “[T]he first responders rush to rescue victims from a crumbling high-rise hotel both under the rubble and high above the ground,” the synopsis reveals. “Athena [Angela Bassett] must deal with wreckage from a collapsed freeway overpass and Maddie [Jennifer Love Hewitt] is thrown into the fire as she faces her first crisis as a 911 dispatcher.”
Hewitt is a new cast member this season, and she made her debut in Sunday night’s episode. She stars as Maddie, a new 911 operator and the sister of firefighter Buck (Oliver Stark). Last season, the show focused on operator Abby Clark (Connie Britton), but she left at the end of Season 1 to travel on a solo adventure.
Also new in Season 2 is Ryan Guzman, who’s playing a new firefighter named Eddie, who has joined Capt. Bobby Nash’s (Peter Krause) team. In their first episode, which was Sunday’s Season 2, episode 1, titled “Under Pressure,” the first responders had to help out on one of the hottest days of the year.
“The first responders are pressured as harrowing incidents keep happening, including a road rage accident involving a van full of tourists, an emergency at an auto-repair shop and a vet with a live grenade embedded in his leg,” the synopsis explained. “Meanwhile, Buck is visited by his sister. Also, Athena questions her relationship with Bobby. Then, at the fire station, new hire Eddie jeopardizes Buck's chances of being chosen for a fireman calendar.”
“9-1-1” airs on Fox on Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT.
