New Batman Game Featuring Court Of Owls May Be In Development

Warner Bros. Games Montreal may be developing a new video game based on Batman. There’s no information yet on when the game will be officially announced, but it seems like the new video game will focus on the Court of Owls storyline.

This rumor started when Warner Bros. Games Montreal associate producer Valerie Vezina posted on Twitter a picture of a T-shirt featuring the logo of the Court of Owls. For those unaware, the Court of Owls is a secretive criminal organization in Gotham that’s been operating in the shadows for centuries.

The Court of Owls includes members from the richest families in Gotham that use their wealth to control the city. The organization also deploys skilled assassins, called Talons, to enforce their will on others and eliminate any potential threats.

The Court of Owls has always been associated with Batman ever since they debuted in 2011 during DC Comics’ New 52 reboot. Warner Bros. Games Montreal has developed several Batman-related games, including “Batman: Arkham Origins.” The studio is also responsible for developing “Batgirl: A Matter of Family,” the DLC for Rocksteady’s “Batman: Arkham Knight” in 2015.

The appearance of the Court of Owls logo is a clear indication that the studio is working on something related to the fictional criminal organization. It just makes a lot of sense that it will be an entirely new Batman video game that features the Court of Owls as the main antagonist.

A new Batman game has been rumored for a long time now. A few months ago, WB Games Montreal was looking for a user researcher to work on a games-as-a-service title with co-op elements, which sparked initial speculations, as per Game Rant.

Some people have also pointed out that the owl logo shown in the picture may not be related to Batman. The logo on the T-shirt doesn’t completely match the logo of the Court of Owls in the comics. Some have speculated that the owl may be a reference to a new Harry Potter game. Owls do play a huge role in J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world. That being said, WB Games Montreal is more synonymous to Batman.

So, when will this game be officially announced? Some are speculating that an announcement may happen during The Game Awards on Dec. 6. WB Games Montreal creative director Patrick Redding confirmed on Twitter that the studio won’t be attending the event, but a team from the studio will be in Los Angeles to meet up with Warner Bros. partners to show off its work.

The Game Awards creator and producer Geoff Keighley said that more than 10 new games will be announced during the event.
