A second batch of photos showing former Vice President Dick Cheney in some behind-the-scenes moments on Sept. 11, 2001, have been released as a part of a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed by a documentary group that has worked on several films for PBS Front Line. The photos are a never-before-seen glimpse into the vice president's life on one of the most impactful days in American history.
The first batch was released in June when Colette Neirouz Hannam, who filed the request, opened her email to find a response she had been waiting for for quite some time. Over 10 years ago, Hannam filed the FOIA request, but it wasn't until last month that the National Archives responded with the photos, taken by the vice president's photographer.
Here is a selection, curated initially by PBS, that shows Cheney on that fateful day. The full archives are available here on the National Archives Flickr account.
