New ‘Captain Marvel’ Sneak Peek To Premiere Monday After Runtime Seemingly Confirmed
Marvel Studios will release more “Captain Marvel” footage this week. The Disney-owned company announced that there will be a new sneak-peek video premiering during the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
The game, which pits the Clemson Tigers against the Alabama Crimson Tide, will air Monday at 8 p.m. EST on ESPN (another Disney-owned network). It isn’t clear exactly what time the new clip will premiere.
As usual, no one knows exactly what the footage will debut with the “exclusive look,” but the photo posted to social media alongside the announcement might be a clue. The still shows Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) in a green and black uniform. For comic book fans, it’s a nod to the original Mar-Vell suit. For moviegoers, however, it will become known as the Starforce uniform.
The Starforce is a special military team on a Kree planet called Hala. From the trailers so far, audiences know that Carol, an Air Force pilot, was in some sort of accident when the Kree, an alien race, saved her and gave her special powers. They likely made her specifically to join the military team, which also includes Korath (Djimon Hounsou), Minn-Erva (Gemma Chan) and Jude Law’s mystery character (who is widely rumored to be Mar-Vell).
The sneak peek is being released after the “Captain Marvel” runtime made headlines this weekend. While many recent superhero movies have been pushing closer to 2 hours and 30 minutes (and “Avengers: Endgame” could even hit 3 hours), AMC Theaters lists “Captain Marvel” as being 2 hours and 10 minutes long. That’s pretty average for Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.
“Captain Marvel” hits theaters March 8.
