New facts are still being revealed in the captivating case of Charles Manson more than 40 years after the cult murders took place. A documentary set to premiere on ABC Friday promised to reveal never-before-seen footage of Manson, including an interview with Diane Sawyer at Corcoran State Prison.

“Truth and Lies: The Family Manson,” will include the women involved in the case, Manson’s foray into the music business and “how rejection might have fueled his murderous rage,” according to a sneak peek that aired Friday morning on Good Morning America.

“The only thing my mother taught me was that everything she said was a lie,” Manson says during a clip of the Sawyer interview shown on GMA. “And I learned never to believe anyone about anything.”

The documentary includes jarring video of Manson while in prison with a swastika tattooed prominently between his eyebrows.

Manson, the architect behind the “Helter Skelter” murders that took place in 1969, has been in prison since 1971. Manson ran a commune of followers near Los Angeles who killed seven people, including five at director and producer Roman Polanski’s home in Beverly Hills. Polanski’s wife, Sharon Tate, was one of the highest profile victims in the murder. Tate was pregnant at the time and died from 16 stab wounds to the stomach.

Manson was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy alongside three of his followers. Having been denied parole 12 times, 82-year-old Manson captured national attention once more when he was hospitalized after falling ill in January. “He’s not good,” a source told TMZ at the time. “His health is failing.”

Manson was eventually taken back to Corcoran State Prison in California where he remains.

Truth and Lies: The Family Manson airs on ABC Friday, March 17 at 9 p.m. EST.
