The New England Patriots are rolling with a 4-0 record but injuries to some players could be telling moving forward. Among the players who went down include kicker Stephen Gostkowski, receiver Josh Gordon, and safety Patrick Chung. Now, Pats star Tom Brady may have no recourse but to work with the young stars on the team, something easier said than done.

Brady made a curious comment on the WEEI's "The Greg Hill Show" recently, saying that it was hard to count on young receivers. The 42-year-old quarterback has been around and has dealt with several NFL players in the past. Looking forward, however, it appears he is not left with much of a choice.

"We have to figure out the things we got to throw out that we’re not going a good job of and probably won’t work. Every year your team changes and so forth. Sometimes you try certain things because you think they are going to work and they don’t, or you build on things," said Brady.

The Patriots are set to face the Washington Redskins next, probably the best team to try out young players who need to step up. Given that New England reportedly has only about $2.8 million available in cap space, the Patriots are unlikely able to get a veteran to fill up the injury-plagued lineup, the Boston Herald reported.

One player that Brady will have to work with is undrafted rookie Jakobi Meyers. With the Pats roster depth not looking too good, the 42-year-old quarterback needs to find a way to make it all work. It is something he has been able to do in the past and most feel he can certainly do it again.

Among the players he has worked with in the past include Malcolm Mitchell. Both connected during Super Bowl LI, part of that amazing comeback against the Atlanta Falcons. Other rookies that Brady was able to work with include Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez.

In short, the six-time Super Bowl champion knows how to find a way to work with rookies. Moving forward, Brady will need to continue doing that. It all starts against the Redskins - probably the best time for Meyers to shine.

As previously reported, New England's match against Washington is one of the largest betting lines of Week 5. The Patriots are laying 15.5 points on the road. The over/under is 43.
