A Norwegian goal scorer is now being dubbed as the “new Erling Haaland.”
Haaland took Bundesliga by storm this season with his incredible goal scoring abilities. This season, the Norwegian player already hit the back of the net 13 times in 14 Bundesliga appearances. He has helped Borussia Dortmund secure second place and stay within striking distance to winning the title.
The Dortmund sensation managed to have his name written on the record books at the age of 19. However, another Norwegian striker is now earning comparisons to Haaland and is already being touted to become Europe’s future superstar.
Alexander Sorloth, who many refer to as the “new Haaland,” is signed by Crystal Palace but is out on loan at Turkish side Trabzonspor. He has been in his best form this season, scoring a total of 26 goals in 41 outings with the club.
The attacking sensation impressed in a game in Turkey after running from his own half to win a spot kick. He once again put on a show against Ankaragucu by scoring a goal in Super Lig match that ended in a draw.
Despite being older than Haaland, the 24-year-old is still being likened to the Dortmund star as the pair share a lot of things in common. They are both notably tall and pacy inside the pitch.
Trabzonspor are reportedly keen on keeping Sorloth but there have been rumors claiming he was set to terminate his short-term deal before the Super Lig could even resume from being on hiatus.
It wasn’t surprising at all to know that Sorloth is now under the radar of the big clubs across Europe. LaLiga giants Real Madrid is one of the clubs rumored to be keeping an eye on him. However, Sorloth sent a message to the fans of the Turkish side, hinting at where he would like to take his talents to in the coming years.
According to Sorloth, he is likely to stay in Turkey by writing “Super Lig” as caption of one of his recent social media posts. The short yet strong message was immediately viewed by fans as a statement which implies the Haaland-like striker wants to stay with Trabzonspor.
Sorloth joined Crystal Palace for around £9 million ($11.1 million) in 2018. Palace has yet to make any public announcement regarding their plans for Sorloth but many are already expecting him to emerge as a rising star in any of Europe’s top five leagues.
