A new trailer for the highly anticipated film, The Hunger Games, was released Thursday. The Hunger Games, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, will hit theaters on Mar. 23, 2012.

A new trailer for the highly anticipated film, The Hunger Games, was released Thursday.

The one-minute clip, set to air during the pre-show of the 2012 Super Bowl, shows the dystopian futuristic world of the controversial, best-selling trilogy by Suzanne Collins. The film tells the epic story of a bloodthirsty television show that pits 24 teenage contestants chosen at random against each other in a battle to the death until only one is left standing.

There's 24 of us, protagonist Katniss Everdeen says. Only one comes out.

The Hunger Games, starring Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark, will hit theaters on Mar. 23, 2012. The film is directed by Gary Ross. Liam Hemsworth, Amandla Stenberg, Lenny Kravitz, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson and ALexander Ludwig will also star in the film.
