Police in New Jersey arrested two teens for allegedly screaming racial slurs and urinating on a bystander at a high school football game.

The incident occurred Friday night during the Lawrence High School homecoming game in Lawrence, New Jersey. According to the Lawrence Township Police Department, two 17-year-old boys of “Indian descent” allegedly threw racial slurs directed towards a black girl from Lawrence Middle School in the crowd. One of the boys reportedly followed this up by urinating on the girl as they continued to scream racial slurs at her.

Police and investigators were informed of the incident shortly afterward. Both teens were arrested Monday afternoon on charges of harassment, bias intimidation, and lewdness.

Lawrence Mayor Christopher Bobbitt took to Facebook to address the alleged harassment that had occurred.

“As someone that has felt its sting, I know that bigotry exists and sadly will continue to exist but that doesn’t mean that I give up,” Bobbitt wrote. “Instead I look to find allies that will help me fight the cancer of bigotry.”
