  • An Amber Alert was issued after the mother and the son went missing Friday
  • The child was found unhurt with the father
  • The child’s father was charged with kidnapping and will face murder charges

A New Jersey mother, who was abducted along with her 2-year-old son, triggering a statewide Amber Alert, was found dead in Tennessee, authorities said.

The body of Yasemin Uyar, 24, was found Saturday in a wooded area off I-40 in Tennessee, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement Sunday morning. The father of the child, 27-year-old Tyler Rios, of Highland Park, New Jersey, was charged with first-degree kidnapping after he was located in Monterey, Tennessee.

The child was found safe with him, prompting the cancellation of the Amber Alert, the statement said.

The New Jersey authorities had issued an Amber Alert in the state and Pennsylvania after the child, Sebastian Rios, wasn’t dropped off at a daycare Friday and his mother failed to show up at her workplace.

Authorities did not reveal the cause of Uyar's death. Charges in connection with Uyar’s death are pending against Tyler.

Uyar’s mother, Karen, told CBS New York that Tyler, after being located, informed the police where to find the former's body. Uyar was allegedly in an abusive relationship with Tyler, who would violently beat her up when he got drunk, Karen told WPIX-TV on Friday.

Uyar had obtained a restraining order against Tyler, and they had not been living together as a couple ever since Sebastian was born, Karen told the outlet.

"This is probably the hardest few days of our lives," Karen told NBC New York. "[Sebastian is] happy, he’s playing right now. He’s obviously confused, asking for mommy. He’ll start his healing process."

The prosecutor’s office said in the statement, "Tyler Rios remains in custody in Tennessee pending extradition back to New Jersey, after which a first appearance and detention hearing will be scheduled to take place in Union County Superior Court."

In 2018, Tyler had been charged with aggravated assault, strangulation and theft in connection with a domestic violence incident, NJ.com reported, citing court records. The strangulation and theft charges against him were dropped as part of a plea agreement, and Tyler was sentenced to 180 days in jail and three years of probation.
