New Jersey Nanny Passes Out Drunk Before Crashing Vehicle
A New Jersey nanny has been detained by authorities for allegedly getting drunk while she was supposed to be watching a child. The Asbury Park Press reported the young boy’s mother returned home to find her son’s nanny, Susan Porfido-Gibson, 50, of Berkley Township passed out.
After being confronted by the mother, Porfido-Gibson reportedly stumbled out the door and got into her car, fleeing the scene before allegedly crashing her car into a fire hydrant, which was hit with enough force to dislodge it. Porfido-Gibson was arrested by Toms River Township police.
Porfido-Gibson was held at the Ocean County jail on $50,000 bail and local police said she will be charged with child endangerment, drunk driving and other counts. Her blood-alcohol level allegedly registered three times the legal limit. Authorities also reported finding three empty bottles of alcohol inside her vehicle.
Authorites added the child’s mother hired Porfido-Gibson through a certified child care website and Friday was her first day on the job. When the mother returned home, she told authorities that Porfido-Gibson was on the floor while her son was crying and in a soiled diaper.
