New Music Friday: Kelly Clarkson, Clean Bandit, Rachel Platten, Cam And More
October is almost over, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t some new music to check out and enjoy during the final weekend of the month.
In fact, there’s a new album from Kelly Clarkson, a single from Walk The Moon and so much more to enjoy.
Here’s what’s new in the world of music and what you should be listening to.
Kelly Clarkson – “Cruel”
The powerful singer released her eighth studio album, “Meaning of Life,” on Friday and every song off of it is perfectly unique. The album as a whole is a great fuse of pop, R&B and rock, something Clarkson always seems to do well. While each song should be listened to many times, “Cruel” is an exceptional track that shows why Clarkson doesn’t need much besides her voice and a funky melody.
Clean Bandit feat. Julia Michaels – “I Miss You”
This musical collaboration takes a sad song and flips it on its head to create an upbeat ballad that both allows the listener to relate to the lyrics, as well as aspire to feel the way the music wants them to feel.
Rachel Platten – “Loose Ends”
On Friday, Platten released her latest album, “Waves,” featuring a collection of pop and indie-pop tracks, with “Loose Ends” adding a little taste of rock to those sounds, as well.
Walk The Moon – “Surrender”
In a blend of smooth and rough, “Surrender” takes its listeners on an exciting trip and through an entrance into the new era of Walk The Moon.
Liz Huett – “H8U”
Huett drops a relatable song with “H8U,” which is reminiscent of a laid-back version of an old-school Avril Lavigne song. It’s a great combination of simple music with lyrics that scream the opposite of Huett’s sweet voice.
Grace VanderWaal – “City Song”
With only one week to go until VanderWaal’s album, “Just The Beginning,” comes out, she’s been releasing songs to tease what’s to come on it and “City Song” is a perfect way to get people to want to buy her album. It shows off her matchless voice and fun flair in a way that excites listeners and draws them in.
Weezer – “Mexican Fender”
Friday was met with a brand new album from Weezer, “Pacific Daydream,” and it’s a mix of 10 pop-rock tracks. The band had previously released a few promotional singles from the album, including “Mexican Fender,” but if you haven’t listened to any of them yet, definitely start with this one to help you jump right in.
PRETTYMUCH – “Open Arms”
Now three singles in and PRETTYMUCH is proving to be quite the new boy band. Each song has been a perfect pop song ready for mass consumption and appreciation, with this latest one no exception.
Cam – “Diane”
It’s been a little while since we got new music from Cam, but she’s back with a sultry country song that makes sure her return is known.
Happy Sometimes – “Love for the Weekend”
If you’re looking for a cool new song that you can bump this weekend and beyond, that’s this track. Happy Sometimes has created the perfect song to listen to, enjoy and tell your friends about. It has a casual vibe with a unique melody that turns into a pumped-up jam.
