A New Netflix Movie Is Being Torn Apart By Twitter Users
Netflix subscribers have taken to Twitter to put Tyler Perry’s new film “A Fall From Grace” on blast. The film, which currently holds a 33% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, suffers from some apparently unforgivable but laughable quirks.
There’s no doubt that Perry works very hard for his films. The writer, director, actor, and editor didn’t have much help aside from a small crew while he shot “A Fall From Grace” in the span of five days. As Twitter users note -- it shows.
As Complex pointed out, most of the Netflix film audience’s criticisms are about the uninspired script. Many viewers are pleading with Perry to hire other writers and to open the door for other voices. Perry, who is undoubtedly an immensely busy man, shared a video showing off the things he’s been working on. Stacks of scripts line his desk and Perry claims to have written every single of them himself, as the scripts themselves state.
Another common complaint that fans are mocking Perry for is his lack of attention to detail. Continuity errors and inconsistencies are common amongst jokes shared online between those who have seen “A Fall From Grace.”
A Twitter user pointed out that, at one point, one of the characters gets a text message only for the phone to display what is very obviously a screenshot. Netflix viewers can clearly see “No Sim” displayed at the top of the screen, along with other screenshots in the photo gallery at the bottom.
Others pointed out how the extras they hired for one scene, in particular, featured them pretending to eat and drink food and water that wasn’t even there.
As Bossip pointed out, the characters all sported wigs, something movies often use. But it, unfortunately, did not escape the attention of viewers who lambasted Perry and the film stating he didn’t have to include wigs, but the addition of wigs was highly noticeable.
Perry later defended the use of wigs in an interview.
In case you are curious to see this film yourself, Tyler Perry’s aptly titled “A Fall From Grace” is currently on Netflix.
