New Orleans Mardi Gras 2016: Dates, List Of Popular Parade Routes, Schedules
Mardi Gras 2016 and the king cake and iconic plastic bead-filled frenzy that comes along with the New Orleans celebration has already begun. The festivities have been a tradition in the Louisiana city since 1857.
For many, the numerous parades, which are headed by different krewes, are the most anticipated part of the festivities. Revelers camp out in the streets to check out the ornate floats and brass bands, and perhaps, catch some beads and other regalia thrown into the crowds.
Below is the general parade schedule through Tuesday. All events are listed in Central Standard Time.
Saturday
Parade: Krewe of NOMTOC
Start Time: 10:45 a.m.
Route: The Krewe of NOMTOC parade starts at the intersection of Holiday Dr. and Fiesta St. and heads north and then west until it eventually comes to an end at the intersection of General Meyer Ave. and Shirley Dr. For the full route, click here.
Parade: Krewe of Isis
Start Time: 11:00 a.m.
Route: The Krewe of Iris parade will start at the intersection of Napoleon Avenue and Carondelet Street in New Orleans. The parade will follow Tchoupitoulas to the intersection with Poydras Street, and here the parade will end. For the full route, click here.
Parade: Krewe of Tucks
Start Time: 12:00 p.m.
Route: The Krewe of Tucks parade will start at the intersection of Napoleon Ave. and Magazine St. and makes its way north before it ends at Decatur St. and Magazine St. For the full route, click here.
Parade: Krewe of Tchefuncte
Start Time: 1:00 p.m.
Route: The boat parade begins at Marie's Marina and ends at Riverside Park South, by where St. Francis St. interesects Water St. Here is the full route.
Parade: Krewe of Endymion
Start Time: 4:15 p.m.
Route: This parade starts at City Park Ave. and Orleans Ave., but travels mostly on Canal St., turning lastly onto Lasalle St. and stops at Champions Square at the Superdome.
Parade: Krewe of Isis
Start Time: 6:30 p.m.
Route: The Krewe of Isis kicks off at Woodlawn Ave. and Eldorado St. The krewe will make its way to Veterans Ave and Martin Behrman Ave., where the parade will end.
Sunday
Parade: Krewe of Okeanos
Start Time: 11:00 a.m.
Route: The parade will start at the intersection of Jefferson Ave. and Magazine St. It eventually continues on Tchoupitoulas St. and ends at Poydras St.
Parade: Krewe of Mid-City
Start Time: 11:45 a.m.
Route: The parade is scheduled to start at Jefferson St. and Magazine St., traveling along Canal St for most of the parade until it comes to an end at the intersection with Magazine St.
Parade: Krewe of Thoth
Start Time: 12:00 p.m.
Route: The parade will start at State St. and Tchoupitoulas St., and continues on Tchoupitoulas St. and until it ends when it makes it to Poydras St.
Parade: Krewe of Bacchus
Start Time: 5:15 p.m.
Route: The Krewe of Bacchus parade will start at the intersection of Tchoupitoulas St. and Napoleon Ave. The krewe will proceed south to the intersection of Tchoupitoulas and Caliope Street, where the parade will follow through to Convention Center Boulevard.
Monday
Parade: Krewe of Proteus
Start Time: 5:15 p.m.
Route: The Krewe of Proteus parade will first get moving at Napoleon Ave. and Magazine St. It will travel mostly on Canal St., ending at the intersection with Chartres St.
Parade: Krewe of Orpheus
Start Time: 6:00 p.m.
Location:
The Krewe of Orpheus parade will get its start at Napoleon Ave. and Tchoupitoulas St. It ends at Tchoupitoulas St. to Caliope St.
Parade: Krewe of Pandora
Start Time: 7:00 p.m.
Location: The Krewe of Pandora will get going at Woodlawn Ave. and Eldorado St. It will end at Veterans Ave. and Marthin Behrman Ave.
Tuesday
Parade: Krewe of Zulu
Start Time: 8:00 a.m.
Location: The Krewe of Zulu begin at S. Claiborne and Jackson Avenue, and eventually comes to a finish at Orleans Ave. and Broad St. Here is the entire route of the parade.
Parade: Krewe of Rex
Start Time: 10:00 a.m.
Location: The Krewe of Rex parade will start at the intersection of Napoleon Avenue and S. Claiborne Ave, and travel mostly along St. Charles Ave. The krewe ends at Canal St. and South Peters St. Here is the full route.
Parade: Krewe of Elks Orleans
Start Time: Follows Krewe of Rex
Location: The Krewe of Elks Orleans parade will start at the intersection of Napoleon Ave. and S. Claiborne St. (Highway 90), winding mostly along St. Charles Ave. It ends at S. Robertson Ave. and Tulane Ave. Here is the full route.

Start Time: Follows Krewe of Elks Orleans
Location: The parade will start at the intersection of Napoleon Avenue and S. Claiborne Ave, and travel mostly along St. Charles Ave. It ends at S. Robertson Ave. and Tulane Ave.
Parade: Krewe of Argus
Start Time: 10 a.m.
Location: The Krewe of Argus parade will begin at Veterans Blvd. and Houma Blvd, traveling east mostly down Veterans Blvd, ending at Martin Behrman Ave. Here is the full route.

Start Time: Follows Krewe of Argus around 11:00 a.m.

Start Time: Follows Krewe of Elks Jefferson around 11:30 a.m.
Location: Like the two parades that precedes it, the Krewe of Jefferson will also start at Veterans Blvd. and Houma Blvd, traveling east mostly down Veterans Blvd, ending at Martin Behrman Ave. Here is the full route.

Start Time: 10:00 a.m.
Location: It kicks off at N. Columbia St. and Jefferson St. in Covington, Louisiana, traveling around the area, and ending where it began. Here is the full route.
