The game between the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams is undoubtedly the best matchup on the Week 2 NFL schedule. Eight months after the two teams met in 2019 NFL Championship Game, they’ll face off in L.A., and the end result could be the same.

The Rams are 2.5-point home favorites over the Saints, according to the betting line at OddsShark. Sunday afternoon’s game total is 52.

It’s a revenge game for New Orleans, who believe they had a trip to the Super Bowl stolen from them by the officials. A missed pass interference call allowed Los Angeles to force overtime, where they beat the Saints 26-23 on Jan. 20.

The two teams have the best Super Bowl odds in the NFC. The Saints are given a slightly better chance to win the title. The point spread also indicates that the Saints are the better team.

There is value to be had on Los Angeles, who actually might be the better team in 2019.

Los Angeles has led the NFC in scoring in each of the last two years. They are the safest bet to score the most points in the conference in 2019 under head coach Sean McVay. The Rams beat the Carolina Panthers on the road 30-27 in the season opener, even as Jared Goff had a mediocre performance with a 69.0 passer rating.

The Houston Texans scored 28 points on the Saints in New Orleans on “Monday Night Football.” On a short week, the Saints’ defense could be in for a long day in Los Angeles.

Drew Brees and New Orleans usually play much better at home. The team was 7-1 on the road last season, though that was an aberration, considering they went 1-1 against playoff teams and their one victory came by a point when Joe Flacco was still at quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens. From 2012-2017, the Saints never finished the season with a winning record away from the Superdome.

Needing a last-second field goal to beat the Texans in their home opener is indicative of a team that gets off to slow starts. The Saints lost in Week 1 last year and barely beat the Cleveland Browns the following week. New Orleans started the 2017 season 0-2 before winning 11 of their final 14 games.

The Saints are 2-14 against the spread in their last 16 games in Week 1 and Week 2, according to OddsShark. Look for that trend to continue against the Rams.
