New 'Star Wars: Episode VII' X-Wings Getting A Paint Job, Spy Shots Confirm
New images should give “Star Wars” fans a clear indication that Episode 7’s space battles are going to be a lot more colorful. The X-Wing -- piloted in the second and third films by Luke Skywalker -- is getting a decidedly darker paint job for its next outing, the spy photos revealed Saturday.
“Star Wars: Episode VII” is filming at London’s Pinewood Studios, and a slew of new shots published online by Spanish newspaper 20 Minutos, showcase a black, orange and silver X-Wing. They also offer a brief glimpse of the Millenium Falcon, and the same X-Wing that appeared with director J.J. Abrams on YouTube this summer.
The images offer the clearest look yet at the color scheme, which first appeared in spy shots from movie site Latino Review. Spoiler warning: Actor John Boyega is rumored to be flying the ship, which is painted to match his Stormtrooper costume.
The Millennium Falcon also has popped up in YouTube video posted last week by Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions. In the latest entry in a playful rivalry between Abrams and “Batman V. Superman” director Zack Snyder, the underside of the Falcon is revealed to be home to the newest Batmobile.
Snyder had previously tweeted an image showing Gotham’s finest arresting two stormtroopers, who appeared to have taken the Batmobile out for a joy ride. “Star Wars: Episode VII” is set for release on Dec. 18, 2015.
