New York Fashion Week 2012: Charlotte Ronson Polishes and Refines the 'Real Girl' [PHOTOS]
Charlotte Ronson showed her Fall 2012 Collection on Friday at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, a refined collection in opulent deep plum, burnt orange, maroon, forest crème and beiges from camel to ivory which she called a modern wardrobe for a real girl.
Steering clear of the grunge trend that was present the past few seasons, Ronson took her Fall collection to cleaner lines and a more polished, lady-like aesthetic with tons of pieces that matched and went together. Pert collars added an air of sophistication as part of backless dickies. Turtlenecks and mock necks, fitted jackets and blazers in camel hues, smartly tailored pencil skirts and knife pleated skirts added smoothness to the refined women's collection.
Much of the collection was cozy winter knitwear, fur vests and matching caps, which Ronson said was inspired by "70's Switzerland, designs someone would wear to a lodge party after a skiing trip."
Ronson instead incorporated her signature downtown edge and a hard masculine feel through leather details, like caps, elbow gloves and belts, menswear inspired trousers and sharpened silhouettes.
Most notably, Charlotte Ronson's new line of handbags saw their first trip down the runway. However, this is not Ronson's first endeavor into accessories; Normally, she only designs belts, shoes and gloves to accompany her lines, but this year made handbags to add the matchy matchy air she spoke about before the show in the clothes and other accessories.
Ronson also had a successful beauty line. She launched her makeup collection at Sephora in September, with each product named after members of her family or her celebrity friends. Ronson also has mass market affordable diffusion collections in nationwide retailers, like her Play for Urban Outfitters and I Heart Ronson for JCPenney.
