New York Fashion Week 2012: Jill Stuart Fall Collection of Whimsical Purple and Indigo [PHOTOS]
Jill Stuart, a designer known for utilizing flirty prints and making them sexy, presented her Fall 2012 collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York on Saturday, displaying girly whimsical pieces in hues of purple, plum, indigo, navy, like a pansy flower and of course, winter white and black.
Launched in 1993, the Jill Stuart label has transformed into a progressive and sexy look. Known for flirtatious prints and sexy styles, Stuart's collection exudes an understated elegance in its frilly and feminine pieces with clean lines that accentuate the female form and her Fall 2012 collection was no different.
The collection was made up of swingy shift dresses, full to semi-full A-line skirts with empire waists to accentuate womanly curves, fitted and wide-legged trousers in solids and prints, peter pan collar button down shirts and turtlenecks. Prints ranged from rhinestones organized in both swirly and structured -- meant to emulate a button down shirt -- patterns to whimsical monochromatic flowers to paint splotches in plum and indigo.
The second half of the collection featured mostly black, with mesh opaque blocks, black PVC platform stiletto boots and leather side panels on pencil skirts for an edgy vibe to complement the femininity. Only a few pieces had color block in her season's palette of navy and plum, mostly in dresses, but the block pattern was mostly used for black clothing with sheer mesh panels.
Models wore their long hair down with natural waves and a middle part with a light purple/deeper shade lavender eye shadow from the designers personal makeup line.
Giants wide receiver Ramses Barden attended the show wearing a gray Lacoste shirt, taking to reporters about football and fashion.
