The New York City Fire Department is not affiliated with the man in a viral video who was seen wearing an FDNY sweatshirt while heckling pro-abortion rights protesters, according to officials.

On Monday, the department released a statement denying any association with the man wearing a sweatshirt with various FDNY logos and an “America First” hat.

“A video circulating from a protest in Manhattan over the weekend shows an individual wearing a FDNY sweatshirt,” a post from the official FDNY Twitter account read.

“The individual in the video is not a member of the FDNY. The comments made do not represent the views of the FDNY. The matter is under investigation.”

The incident took place on Sunday outside of the Basilica of Old St Patrick’s Cathedral in Manhattan between protestors for and against abortion rights.

The group of abortion-rights protestors were holding a demonstration following the Supreme Court document leak, which suggested Roe v. Wade will be overturned.

In one version of the video, shared by activist Amy Siskind, protestors are seen on the sidewalk and heard chanting, “Not the church, not the state, the people must decide the fate.”

As a result, the man began taunting them from the stairs of the church with replies like, “The people have decided, the court has decided, you lose,” and “Not your body, not your choice, your body is mine.”

Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., shared a different version of the video, which showed the group of men praying on the church stairs.

“The men holding rosaries, Bibles, and wearing America First hats bravely defending their churches against the abortionist horde are heroes, every single one of them. Heroes,” Gosar tweeted.

Siskind’s video has received over 2 million views, while Gosar’s clip has received more than 300,000 as of Monday afternoon.
