The National League Championship Series continues on Tuesday night as the stage shifts to Wrigley Field, where the Chicago Cubs host the New York Mets in Game 3. New York leads the best-of-seven series 2-0 after beating both Jon Lester and Jake Arrieta in New York.
Right-hander Jacob deGrom takes the hill for the Mets. Terry Collins’ ace is 2-0 this postseason after beating Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke in Games 1 and 5 of the NL Division Series, respectively. He boasts a 1.38 ERA over 13 innings, having allowed two runs on 11 hits while striking out 20 through his first two career postseason starts. Counting Tuesday's Game 3, all of deGrom's playoff outings have come on the road, where he posted a 3.09 ERA during the regular season.
Taking the mound for the Cubs in Game 3 is Kyle Hendricks. The 25-year-old right-hander started Game 2 of the NLDS against the St. Louis Cardinals but lasted just 4 2/3 innings before being pulled. He was credited with a no-decision in the Cubs victory after being charged with three runs on four hits and striking out seven. In the regular season, Hendricks was 8-7 with a 3.95 ERA over 32 starts.
Tuesday night will be the first NLCS contest played at Wrigley Field since Game 7 in 2003.
